Rill

The glow and the water are one system. Rill runs a real-time WebGL2 shallow-water simulation — an actual finite-difference solution of the 2D wave equation — and samples its height field on the CPU to drive a live glass inner-glow, layered over genuine backdrop-filter refraction rather than a static blur. Installation and Material are cross-linked custom post types built around that same glass system, with an AJAX commission enquiry form for studio leads.

Overview

Rill is made for a studio that designs and builds custom water features engineered as a single piece with the glass that carries them — fountains, reflecting pools, and water walls for lobbies, plazas, and private commissions. The brief called for refined glass with an inner glow and a flowing-water background; instead of building those as two separate decorations, Rill merges them into one real technical system.

A fixed, full-viewport WebGL2 canvas runs a genuine explicit finite-difference solve of the 2D shallow-water wave equation on every page, forced by pointer movement and clicks. Its height field is read twice each frame: once by a GPU fragment shader that paints the visible water surface with fresnel, specular highlight, and foam shading, and once by a parallel CPU-side pass that samples the same height array beneath every glass-panelled element on the page to set its inner-glow intensity in real time. The glass panels’ blur and colour shift come from genuine backdrop-filter refraction of the actual animated canvas behind them — not a static decorative blur — so a ripple passing under a card visibly brightens its border at the same moment it disturbs the water you can see through it. A secondary Installations portfolio and Materials library cross-link by glass-system name, each installation’s spec sheet naming the exact proprietary panel that shapes its water. Set in Newsreader and Space Grotesk over a teal-and-foam palette with a warm bronze accent. The simulation degrades to a settled static frame under reduced-motion or without WebGL2, with content fully present either way.

Release

v1.0.0 The glow and the water are one system.

The complete, dated version history ships in the theme’s CHANGELOG file. Every purchase includes lifetime access to future updates.

Fellrise

A persistent WebGL2 'liquid topography' field — real 2D simplex noise, 4-octave fBm domain warping and finite-difference-normal specular lighting, switchable between two atmosphere palettes — behind a real wind-chill index, a corrected Naismith's Rule, the 5-tier avalanche danger scale and a real GPX 1.1 track exporter.

Two real calculations carry the site: a WebGL2 hexagon-packing comb field, and a waggle-dance bearing calculator built on the actual relationship a forager's dance encodes. The comb field runs genuine flat-top axial and pixel conversion with cube-coordinate rounding and an exact hexagon SDF, while the waggle calculator combines a NOAA simplified solar-position formula with von Frisch's real sun-relative bearing relationship. Colonies, honey, sites, services, testimonials, and markets run as custom post types behind a working AJAX inquiry endpoint, for apiaries and small honey producers.

The page is a dark stage and the content is the printed matter lying on it — playbill, ticket stubs, call sheet, receipt roll. It also publishes the sightline of all 412 seats, including the rows that lose the top of the set.
