Overview

Who it is for

Nurseries, daycare centres, preschools and childminders: one of the largest groups of local businesses that need a website parents trust, and most are still on templates built for something else. Wren is built around what a parent asks before anything else: what would my child’s day be like, who will look after them, is it safe, and what will it cost me.

One day, from 07:30 to 18:00

The front page is a nursery day. Each section is a time (Arrive, Settle in, Rooms, Outside, Lunch, Rest, The team, Parents, Fees, Visit us) with a rail down the side that follows you, the sun on it turning into the moon after four. The rooms are drawn as the nested arches of a wooden rainbow, youngest in the middle, and the team stand as peg dolls with their qualifications and years of service beside them.

A table in morning light

The first screen is a WebGPU scene: a wooden rainbow, two upturned arches, peg dolls and blocks on a birch table in low sun through a window. Tap an upturned arch and it rocks by the real rolling-rocker equation, so a big arch rocks more slowly than a small one. The still under the canvas is a frame of the same scene, so the page is complete before any 3D starts, and phones keep the still.

A fees plan, not a price list

Enter a date of birth and a start date. Wren works out which room the child starts in, when they move up, when funded hours begin, how they are stretched across the year, the consumables charge and any sibling discount, and shows the next 24 months as a chart with the first month worked out line by line. It works without JavaScript and updates as you type with it.

Everything else a nursery needs

Rooms with ratios drawn as blocks and live places at the next intake; a weekly menu with allergens (today opens first); term dates; a book-a-visit form with real upcoming dates that arrives prefilled from the fees plan; a parents page with policies; a stated photo policy (no children’s faces); and a one-click, repeatable demo import.

Classic PHP theme, no build step, no third-party JavaScript. Three WebGPU scenes on one device: a table lit by a window (sunlight traced back to the window plane so the glazing bars and every penumbra are right, contact-hardening shadow map, analytic sphere occlusion, depth of field, rolling-rocker physics for the upturned arches); a watercolour reel (arrival-time field solved by compute over a fibrous paper, Kubelka–Munk pigment); and a nap-room shaft of light with forward-scattering dust. Posters and cross-fades where WebGPU is missing; every scene stops off screen and draws one still frame under reduced motion. The fees plan runs in PHP and in JavaScript with identical results (checked on 112 cases). ChildCare, Offer, Person credential, FAQ and BlogPosting structured data. axe WCAG 2.1 AA clean.
