Lantern

The page isn't styled — it's lit. Lantern drives the whole page from registered, @property-typed custom properties carrying a live lighting state — key, wash, haze, tint — so scrolling runs a literal lighting cue stack rather than a scroll animation. The hero renders volumetric light beams through haze off the main thread, a desk scene mixes six lanterns additively in linear light, and colour is authored in OKLCH because a dimmer is fundamentally a lightness axis; the whole layout is built as a cue sheet aligned on CSS subgrid.

Overview

Lantern starts from one idea taken completely literally: a lighting designer decides what the audience can see, so the site is lit rather than decorated. Four registered (@property-typed) custom properties — key, wash, haze, tint — hold the live lighting state, and because they’re registered rather than plain custom properties, the browser can genuinely interpolate them instead of jump-cutting between values; scrolling runs a literal lighting cue stack, and every other rule on the page reads from that same source, so changing one cue changes the whole page together. The hero renders volumetric light beams in haze off the main thread, and a desk scene mixes six lanterns additively in linear light — the way light actually combines, not the way a naive alpha blend fakes it. Colour is authored in OKLCH throughout, for the simple reason that a dimmer is fundamentally a lightness axis, and OKLCH is the one colour space where dimming a light reads as a straight, perceptually even move. Layout itself is built as a cue sheet aligned on CSS subgrid rather than a conventional page skeleton.

Two real calculations carry the site: a WebGL2 hexagon-packing comb field, and a waggle-dance bearing calculator built on the actual relationship a forager's dance encodes. The comb field runs genuine flat-top axial and pixel conversion with cube-coordinate rounding and an exact hexagon SDF, while the waggle calculator combines a NOAA simplified solar-position formula with von Frisch's real sun-relative bearing relationship. Colonies, honey, sites, services, testimonials, and markets run as custom post types behind a working AJAX inquiry endpoint, for apiaries and small honey producers.

LANTHORN

The page is a dark stage and the content is the printed matter lying on it — playbill, ticket stubs, call sheet, receipt roll. It also publishes the sightline of all 412 seats, including the rows that lose the top of the set.

NOVA ROSE

A WooCommerce storefront in rose whose bundle savings are summed from the products at render time, and which prints no rating it cannot back with a review. The background is a hand-written WebGL2 field — domain-warped fBm across 5 octaves and 3 colour stops, DPR-aware and context-loss safe — running on a classic PHP theme with no build step. Built on WooCommerce 8.0+ with self-hosted Bricolage Grotesque, Manrope, and Space Mono type and zero third-party JavaScript, for shop owners who want honest numbers over inflated social proof.
