Frond

A bright theme for plant nurseries and botanical shops, led by a real Three.js 3D hero of extruded leaves tumbling through lit, fogged space as the light shifts around them. A scroll-driven vine draws itself up the page and sprouts leaves as you scroll, and an interactive Plant Finder filters the catalogue by light, water and pet-safety needs so shoppers land on the right plant. The hand-illustrated SVG catalogue is set in Young Serif over Figtree and Space Mono.

Highlights

  • Real Three.js 3D hero — extruded leaves tumbling in lit, fogged 3D space
  • Scroll-driven growing vine that draws up the page and sprouts leaves
  • Interactive Plant Finder filters plants by light, water & pets
  • Hand-illustrated SVG catalogue; Young Serif over Figtree & Space Mono

Overview

A living, growing theme for indoor-plant nurseries and botanical shops — warm cream paper, deep conservatory greens and terracotta, deliberately bright and organic rather than another dark template. The signature is growth itself: an SVG vine climbs the left gutter as you scroll, sprouting leaves as it draws past them — a reading-progress meter shaped like a plant.

Underneath it’s a complete nursery site: a Plant post type with a Collection taxonomy drives a hand-illustrated catalogue (every plant is original flat-SVG art, so there’s no stock-photo sourcing), Field Notes carry plain-English care guides, and a genuinely functional Plant Finder filters plants by your light, watering habits and whether you have pets — using the exact same cards shown everywhere else. Drifting pollen, unfurling cards, a leaf-trail cursor and animated nursery stats round it out. Young Serif over Figtree and Space Mono.

Two real calculations carry the site: a WebGL2 hexagon-packing comb field, and a waggle-dance bearing calculator built on the actual relationship a forager's dance encodes. The comb field runs genuine flat-top axial and pixel conversion with cube-coordinate rounding and an exact hexagon SDF, while the waggle calculator combines a NOAA simplified solar-position formula with von Frisch's real sun-relative bearing relationship. Colonies, honey, sites, services, testimonials, and markets run as custom post types behind a working AJAX inquiry endpoint, for apiaries and small honey producers.
