VellumArchive WordPress Theme

Vellum is built for herbariums and botanical archives, and it deliberately breaks from the catalogue's usual dark themes with a light, high-key paper palette. Body and headline type run in the editorial serif Spectral rather than a grotesque display face, giving it a research-journal voice instead of a tech-startup one. A persistent sticky-pane split screen keeps each specimen paired with its field notes as you scroll, so image and annotation never separate.

Highlights

  • Light, high-key paper palette — deliberately not another dark theme
  • Editorial serif voice (Spectral) instead of a grotesque display face
  • Persistent sticky-pane split screen pairs a specimen image with its notes
  • Specimen content type with genus/species, collection date & habitat

Overview

Vellum breaks the studio’s recurring skeleton on purpose: a light, high-key paper palette instead of another dark theme, an editorial serif voice (Spectral) rather than a grotesque display face for the hero, and a persistent sticky-pane split screen — one pane holds a specimen image steady while the facing pane scrolls through its taxonomic notes, the way an actual herbarium sheet pairs a pressed specimen with its label.

A Specimen content type carries genus/species, collection date and habitat fields, giving botanical archives real structured taxonomy instead of a generic ‘gallery’ post type.

Release

v1.0.0 Vellum is built for herbariums and botanical archives, and it deliberately breaks from the catalogue's usual dark themes with a light, high-key paper palette. Body and headline type run in the editorial serif Spectral rather than a grotesque display face, giving it a research-journal voice instead of a tech-startup one. A persistent sticky-pane split screen keeps each specimen paired with its field notes as you scroll, so image and annotation never separate.

The complete, dated version history ships in the theme’s CHANGELOG file. Every purchase includes lifetime access to future updates.
