Fumée

Real GPU buoyant-smoke simulation meets a mixology craft-studio menu. Fumée's hero runs an actual Navier-Stokes solver in WebGL2, so smoke curls and dissipates with real fluid dynamics rather than a sprite loop. The Speakeasy Reveal layout uncovers each section with a spotlight scroll instead of a rail or bento grid, while self-drawing SVG flavour-radar charts and hand-drawn bar-tool icons carry the tasting notes. A Cocktail CPT and Spirit Family taxonomy back an AJAX reservation-enquiry form.

Highlights

  • Signature real-time WebGL2 stable-fluids GPU solver — a genuine buoyant smoke plume (its own buoyancy force, vorticity confinement, cross-wind sway) rising off a flickering vent, not a pour/glass/bottle scene and not a noise-shader impression of smoke
  • A distinct “Speakeasy Reveal” macro layout — sections rise out of near-black into their own warm spotlight as you scroll, instead of the usual hero-and-stacked-cards structure
  • Server-rendered SVG flavour-profile radar chart per cocktail (crawlable, no-JS safe) plus hand-drawn bar-tool line icons — both self-draw their outline in on scroll, the same stroke recipe reused for two different subjects
  • Cocktail CPT + Spirit Family taxonomy with real tasting attributes (glass, garnish, ABV, six flavour axes), AJAX reservation enquiry; Bodoni Moda over Instrument Sans, smoked copper on warm charcoal

Overview

Fumée is for cocktail bars and mixology studios. Its hero runs a real buoyant-smoke simulation — a Navier-Stokes solver in WebGL2, with genuine buoyancy and advection — so the smoke curls and rises the way smoke does instead of looping a video clip. On a page selling atmosphere, the difference is the product.

The layout archetype is a Speakeasy Reveal: a spotlight that moves down the page picking out one thing at a time, deliberately not another rail, promenade or bento grid. Self-drawing SVG flavour radars and bar-tool line icons carry the same hand-drawn register through the content. A Cocktail post type with a Spirit Family taxonomy and an AJAX reservation enquiry cover what a bar site has to do: publish a list that changes seasonally, and take bookings.
