HadalDiving WordPress Theme

The whole site is a descent. Hadal runs one continuous Three.js scene behind every section — volumetric fog, god-rays, two independent particle fields and a procedural submersible model that responds as you scroll deeper. A live depth gauge ticks off actual metres, driven by GSAP and ScrollTrigger, alongside a hand-authored SVG hull cross-section. Custom post types and taxonomy organize expeditions and vessels, with an AJAX enquiry form for booking.

Highlights

  • Signature site-wide Three.js descent — one live WebGL scene behind the whole site darkens from sunlit teal to abyssal black as you scroll, with god-ray shafts, two bioluminescent particle fields, marine snow & a procedural crewed submersible whose LED lights the water
  • A HUD depth gauge counts down to the trench floor — 10,935 m — as you read
  • Ocean-zone “light bars” grow to the share of surface daylight that survives to each depth; hand-authored SVG hull cross-section
  • Submersible CPT with real dive attributes (depth rating, crew, life-support, viewport, hull) + Class taxonomy & AJAX expedition enquiry

Overview

Hadal is made for an operator of crewed deep-sea submersibles — science campaigns, film production, record descent. Instead of the usual hero-plus-grid, the homepage is staged as a dive: a cover at the surface, the five ocean zones between the sun and the floor, the fleet as alternating spec spreads, an engineering cross-section, a dive log, and a charter enquiry.

The signature is a single real Three.js scene that lives behind the entire site as a fixed WebGL canvas. Scroll is depth: exponential fog and clear colour darken from sunlit teal to trench black, surface god-ray shafts fade past the twilight zone, two bioluminescent particle fields drift and pulse — shifting toward magenta as you go deeper — marine snow streams upward, and a procedural crewed submersible bobs with its forward LED lighting the water. A HUD depth gauge counts to 10,935 metres, the floor of the Mariana Trench, as you read. A second technique lays out the five ocean zones with light bars that grow to the share of surface daylight that survives to each depth; a third is a hand-authored SVG hull cross-section of the titanium personnel sphere and its expendable systems. Set in Sora and IBM Plex Mono over dark-glass HUD panels with corner brackets and bioluminescent-cyan readouts. The scene degrades to a CSS gradient poster on reduced-motion, weak GPUs, or without WebGL2.
