Overview

A bold, modern WordPress theme for news publications and digital magazines — the intricate, content-dense end of the collection. Its signature is a live newsprint halftone: every big photo is rendered in real time as a field of ink ben-day dots on a canvas, every big picture entering as raw ben-day dots and ‘developing’ into the real photograph as it rises through the viewport (a dark-ground variant runs behind the full-bleed long read) — a genuine, unmistakable print-press effect, not a filter. The front page is a real magazine grid built entirely from standard posts, categories and authors: a lead-plus-rail hero, colour-coded section blocks (each with its own lead, cards and headline list), a two-column most-read list, an opinion strip of columnists, that full-bleed long read, and a newsletter band. A live headline ticker runs under the masthead and a live edition clock ticks in the utility bar.

Its organising idea is a per-category colour system: sections named Politics, Business, Technology, Culture, World and Opinion each carry their own hue, which flows through kickers, section rules and article drop-caps so the whole paper colour-codes itself by beat. Warm newsprint and near-black ink with editorial vermilion; Bricolage Grotesque mastheads over Source Serif body. Clip-reveal headlines, a reading-progress bar, lead-image parallax, reveal-on-scroll and an AJAX newsletter signup round out a motion layer that is lively but fully disabled under prefers-reduced-motion — where the halftone simply renders in its final, fully-developed state so the effect is present for everyone, and all content is built on portable, standard WordPress structures.
