Overview

Cornice is a design-build renovation theme for whole-home interior remodeling firms — kitchens, baths, whole-home renovations, open-concept conversions, basement finishing, home additions. Every interactive device on the site is computed from real, checkable construction math, not a styled-up random-number generator.

1. A real header/beam span calculator. Enter a span, a tributary width, and a load case and it runs real LVL 1.9E-2600Fb structural formulas — bending stress, deflection against L/360, and shear — against the standard catalogue of ply/depth combinations, returning the smallest header that passes all three checks. Explicitly labelled as a budgetary planning tool, not a stamped engineering document.

2. A real room-to-materials estimator. Room dimensions in, real trade coverage rates out: paint gallons at 350 sq ft/gallon/coat, flooring boxes with a 10% waste factor, and baseboard piece counts.

3. A real critical-path renovation schedule. A genuine 15-task Critical Path Method schedule for a gut renovation — forward/backward pass, computed slack, and the actual critical path highlighted — rendered as an interactive Gantt chart from server-computed data.

The persistent background is a scroll-driven, deliberately low-poly Three.js scene of a room moving through four real construction stages — existing shell, framed, enclosed, finished. It degrades to a single static frame of the finished stage under reduced-motion, no-WebGL2, or a weak GPU. Inner pages carry a “blueprint margin” — a sticky left rail styled like the title block of an architectural drawing sheet. 8 real-feeling case studies across all six project types, with real sourced photography.

Signature 1: real LVL 1.9E-2600Fb header/beam calculator — bending stress, L/360 deflection, and shear checks against a real ply/depth catalogue, matching PHP and JS implementations. Signature 2: real room-to-materials estimator — 350 sq ft/gal/coat paint coverage, 10% waste factor flooring/baseboard. Signature 3: real 15-task Critical Path Method renovation scheduler with computed slack and highlighted critical path, rendered as an interactive Gantt chart from server-computed data. Persistent scroll-driven Three.js "room in progress" background (existing shell -> framed -> enclosed -> finished), capability-gated with a static-frame fallback. "Blueprint margin" sticky-rail layout archetype. 8 demo case studies across all 6 project types with real sourced photography. Self-hosted Lora + Manrope + IBM Plex Mono (all OFL). No third-party JS libraries beyond Three.js, no build step.

A one-of-a-kind jewelry maison storefront: a real Three.js/WebGL2 gem viewer lets shoppers drag-orbit each piece, swap between 18K gold, rose gold, platinum and blackened metal in real time, and read live facet-angle, refractive-index, critical-angle and fire-frequency numbers off an on-canvas HUD as the stone turns. A browsing-history-driven style curator recommends pieces from the visitor's own session, computed entirely client-side with no dependency on any external AI service. Runs as a compiled React/Vite storefront embedded inside a classic WordPress theme, with a custom "Luxury Products" catalogue (no WooCommerce dependency).

A persistent WebGL2 fluid field — real 2D simplex noise run through 5-octave curl-advected, pointer-reactive fractional Brownian motion, modelling crema and pour turbulence, switchable between Espresso Dark and Roastery Morning Light — behind a real SCA Golden Cup extraction calculator, a real Development Time Ratio roast simulator, a real Kozeny-Carman dripper lab, and the real SCA 100-point cupping protocol.

Two real calculations carry the site: a WebGL2 hexagon-packing comb field, and a waggle-dance bearing calculator built on the actual relationship a forager's dance encodes. The comb field runs genuine flat-top axial and pixel conversion with cube-coordinate rounding and an exact hexagon SDF, while the waggle calculator combines a NOAA simplified solar-position formula with von Frisch's real sun-relative bearing relationship. Colonies, honey, sites, services, testimonials, and markets run as custom post types behind a working AJAX inquiry endpoint, for apiaries and small honey producers.
