Overview
Concours is a classic-car restoration and coachbuilding atelier theme — full body-off restorations, mechanical & chassis rebuilds, and concours-show preparation for privately-owned collector cars. The persistent background isn’t a stock car-paint gradient: it’s a hand-written WebGL2 shader rendering a genuinely glossy curved body panel with real studio-strip-light streak reflections, and every interactive tool on the site runs on real concours-judging and restoration-industry data.
1. A real 100-point concours judging calculator. Built against the actual published AACA national judging structure — four equally-weighted 100-point columns (exterior, interior, chassis, engine) with real, specific deduction values for common flaws, toggled live against a running score.
2. A real numbers-matching / originality explainer. Walks through what cross-referencing an engine, chassis/VIN, transmission, and body tag against factory records actually verifies — and the real reason a matching-numbers car commands a premium over an otherwise-identical clone.
3. A real restoration scope & timeline estimator. Stage-by-stage duration ranges (teardown, media blasting, metal fabrication, paint, mechanical rebuild, interior, reassembly) calibrated to real industry-cited tiers — honestly presented as a range, not false precision.
The signature GPU background renders a curved automotive body panel from a hand-written WebGL2 fragment shader: a domain-warped height field drives diffuse shading, while a separate macro-curvature warp drives a coherent studio-softbox streak reflection — the exact look of professional car photography. It visually restores as you scroll: dull grey primer with soft faint bands near the top, settling into deep glossy racing-green lacquer with tight mirror-sharp chrome streaks and metallic flake by the bottom, the same before/after story the timeline tool tells. 16 demo restoration projects across 4 categories with real sourced restoration photography — every project entirely fictional, no real collector or vehicle represented.
