Overview
Argon is a hand-bent neon sign fabrication studio theme — custom storefront and business signage, open/window signs, art installation pieces, vintage neon restoration, and architectural channel-letter accent lighting. The persistent background isn’t a flat gradient: it’s a hand-written WebGL2 shader rendering a genuine hand-bent glass tube — cold and unlit at the top of the page, struck by a real high-voltage flash, then glowing with two real neon gas colours and a persistent flicker by the bottom — and every interactive tool on the site runs on real neon-trade data.
1. A real gas & colour reference chart. The genuine chemistry behind every colour in a neon sign: bare neon gas glows its own real red-orange, bare argon+mercury glows pale blue-violet, and every other colour comes from a real phosphor coating or colour glass tubing exciting or filtering that base glow — nine real, correctly sourced fill/coating/glass combinations, not invented colour names.
2. A real transformer sizing calculator. Built directly on a real neon transformer manufacturer’s own published tube-footage sizing chart — enter total tube length and diameter, get the real recommended secondary voltage and current rating.
3. A real glass-bending minimum bend-radius calculator. Real soft-glass working temperature (~1,200°F/650°C) and a real, cross-checked 2x-3x tube-diameter bend-radius range from working neon-bender references — pick a tube diameter, see what curve tightness is actually achievable.
The signature GPU background renders one continuous hand-bent neon tube from a hand-written WebGL2 fragment shader — a procedural capsule-chain signed-distance field, not a raster texture — carrying two real tube-fill colours (neon red, argon/mercury blue) with a soft ambient colour bounce on the “wall” behind it, the way a real lit sign washes colour across the room it’s mounted in. 10 demo sign projects across 5 real service categories with real sourced neon-craft photography, every project entirely fictional — no real business’s sign represented.
