Aloft

Built to catch the first light — a theme for a hot air balloon flight operator, opened at dawn with a real Three.js scene of a balloon catching the day's first light. GSAP, ScrollTrigger and SplitText choreograph the ascent as you scroll, staging text and imagery in sequence rather than dropping it in all at once. Custom post types organise flights and routes, with AJAX powering the booking browse.

Highlights

  • Signature scroll-scrubbed 3D “envelope” — a real Three.js balloon inflates gore by gore from a heaped pile of fabric into full flight shape, burner igniting, rig lifting off
  • Four real switchable liveries reskin the gore stripe pattern live
  • Balloon CPT with real commission attributes: volume, capacity, price, lead time & burner system
  • Self-hosted GSAP + ScrollTrigger + SplitText driving reveals; AJAX build-slot & dawn-flight enquiry form

Overview

Aloft is built for a real envelope shop, not a stock travel-agency page — every fleet listing carries a real commission price, lead time, and passenger capacity, and the copy reads like a flight desk’s own quote sheet.

The signature is the Envelope: a real Three.js balloon that inflates gore by gore, sweeping around the circumference from a crumpled pile on the ground into a fully round teardrop shape, the burner igniting and the whole rig lifting off at the very end — pinned in place for one viewport’s worth of scroll so the payoff actually lands. Drag to orbit; switch between four real liveries. Below the fold, the fleet, the build process, and dawn flight bookings all reuse the same AJAX enquiry dialog.

A one-of-a-kind jewelry maison storefront: a real Three.js/WebGL2 gem viewer lets shoppers drag-orbit each piece, swap between 18K gold, rose gold, platinum and blackened metal in real time, and read live facet-angle, refractive-index, critical-angle and fire-frequency numbers off an on-canvas HUD as the stone turns. A browsing-history-driven style curator recommends pieces from the visitor's own session, computed entirely client-side with no dependency on any external AI service. Runs as a compiled React/Vite storefront embedded inside a classic WordPress theme, with a custom "Luxury Products" catalogue (no WooCommerce dependency).

A persistent WebGL2 fluid field — real 2D simplex noise run through 5-octave curl-advected, pointer-reactive fractional Brownian motion, modelling crema and pour turbulence, switchable between Espresso Dark and Roastery Morning Light — behind a real SCA Golden Cup extraction calculator, a real Development Time Ratio roast simulator, a real Kozeny-Carman dripper lab, and the real SCA 100-point cupping protocol.

Two real calculations carry the site: a WebGL2 hexagon-packing comb field, and a waggle-dance bearing calculator built on the actual relationship a forager's dance encodes. The comb field runs genuine flat-top axial and pixel conversion with cube-coordinate rounding and an exact hexagon SDF, while the waggle calculator combines a NOAA simplified solar-position formula with von Frisch's real sun-relative bearing relationship. Colonies, honey, sites, services, testimonials, and markets run as custom post types behind a working AJAX inquiry endpoint, for apiaries and small honey producers.
