Overview
Fathom is for deep-sea research institutes, and it uses depth as its organising principle: scroll position drives the ambient colour of the whole page, carrying the reader from sunlit shallows down to abyssal dark. The metaphor is the navigation — the further you read, the deeper you are.
Sonar-ping reveal interactions and a bioluminescent particle field keep the environment alive without resorting to stock underwater footage. An Expedition post type is structured as a diving-log narrative — dates, depths, findings — which is closer to how a research institute publishes than a standard blog, and the teal and coral palette stays legible against the deepening background.
