Overview

Who it is for

Architectural lighting design studios, and the architects, interior designers and lighting consultants who present their work the same way: a few projects shown slowly, with the thinking behind them. Lightwell is quiet on purpose: a dark ground, an editorial serif, and photography that is allowed to be dark.

Light you can move

The light lab is a live study of a line of 2700K light grazing honed travertine. Move the pointer and the light changes position and how steeply it strikes the stone; the incidence angle is shown as it changes. Pores and voids throw real shadows through the relief, which is what grazing light is for. Three studies: soft grazing, wall wash and a contained accent.

A material library that is alive

Three samples, each under the fitting its card describes: travertine under a low line of light, aged bronze under a narrow spot, smoked oak in a soft wash. They respond to the pointer, and fall back to still frames without WebGPU.

A studio site, complete

A long homepage of selected work, day-to-night scene control, process, lighting layers and questions; case studies with editable location, sector, year, scope, credits and images; a journal with articles; Studio and Approach pages; and a project enquiry form that stores each enquiry in the dashboard and emails the studio.
